Located in the Gulf of Guinea, Cameroon is triangular with its population of about 16.8 million inhabitants and an surface area of 475,442 Km2. Yaoundé, political capital is also called the city of seven hills. Douala, the main outlet to the sea, is the economic capital of the country. Cameroon has 10 regions and can be divided into fourt major tourist areas:
The Far North tourism (Adamawa, North and Far North), the South (Central Province, eastern and southern part), the Littoral tourism (Littoral province, part of the South province and South West) and West tourism (Western Province and North West). From north to south, Cameroon is characterized by its geographic, ethnic and cultural diversity. Those who references love will find that Cameroon is one of the most successful combination : some green hills of Kenya, cliffs of Mali, the volcanoes of Zaire or Rwanda, Sierra Leone beaches, virgin forests of Gabon and South African waterfalls. The south has an equatorial climate with dense forests. The West of Cameroon is an attic of old volcanoes, the highest being Mount Cameroon, "Chariot of the Gods", which altitude of 4070 m. Foumban in the Bamoun, land is the home of the great palace of Sultan Njoya dating from early twentieth century.
The Littoral offers the country a wide outlet into the sea.
The eastern and southern regions are very interesting for lovers of ecotourism. Between North and South, the Adamawa highlands with altitudes ranging between 1000 and 1500 m are rich in endless green pasture.
