Cameroon has seven national parks, the most famous of which is Waza in the Far North region. These parks, as well as the numerous reserves found mostly in the southern part of the country, possess a rich variety of animal species representative of African fauna (elephants, lions, giraffes, panthers, buffaloes, antelopes, hippopotamuses, hyenas, Gorillas, damalisques, cheetahs, etc. …). Around some national parks, there are fourteen hunting areas with more than 500 km of groomed trails where sports hunters can practice between December and May, in strict compliance with the Convention on the Protection of Endangered Species.
